In 1989, following widespread disadvantage resulting from the demise of the coal mines in East Durham, “Peterlee Partnership”, a constituted voluntary organisation, was established. We were located within the then East Durham College and launched “Holidays at Home” to provide low cost activities for disadvantaged community residents.
Relocating to Whitbread Brewery premises at Castle Eden, these activities expanded to include a range of training and support provision across East Durham. Known as the “CATS” project and then latterly East Durham Partnership, we were patronised by the then Bishop of Durham, David Jenkins.
The East Durham Partnership Haven café offers a range of activities offering opportunities to meet people and chat in a safe and friendly environment.
EDP maintains THE reused furniture Project where donated furniture is cleaned and offered at low cost to disadvantaged residents
The objectives of the Charity are to promote any charitable purpose for the benefit of the East Durham community and in particular for the advancement of education and the furtherance of health and the relief of poverty, illness, distress and sickness.
